graduated from a LLM of Human Rights at the University of East London. My
double Master provided me with a comprehensive insight into International
policy interfaces and on the operating of human rights institutions, laws and
standards.
In 2008, I successfully completed an internship for
a South-African think-tank which focuses on conflict and post-conflict
situations, as researcher. My task was to provide daily assessment about the
situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with regard to human rights
issues. Following this experience, I focused my final dissertation on the
situation of Women in the post-conflict DRC. This final assignment gave me an
in-depth appreciation of the major issues pertaining to gender discrimination,
women’s rights and women empowerment. More recently, I finished an internship
within the Campaign Section of Amnesty International’s French Speaking Belgian
Section as a Campaign assistant, where I had the opportunity to get direct
insight in all stages of the “demand dignity” campaign. This experience
acquainted me with the use of a wide range of campaigning and advocacy
approaches, tools and actions. In that regard, I had the chance to manage the
organization of events, the building of networks, the production of lobbying
and campaigning messages and the disseminating of information. In this regard,
I also had the opportunity to work on the drafting and dissemination strategy
of a forthcoming document on maternal mortality.
These several placements were positively
challenging for me, as they enabled me to develop my research and analytical
expertise as well as strong interpersonal, and organization skills. I learnt to
multitask in an often bilingual environment and to comply with deadlines under
pressure. Moreover, I am Computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and internet
use), and am familiar with the updating of web and intranet pages. Rigorous and
thoughtful, my commitment to human rights, and especially to gender equality and my experience as researcher
will be valuable to the projects assigned to me.
